Munnar
This was a British hill station ie somewhere of high altitude the British went to for a cooler climate during the summer months. It also, like a lot of hill stations, grows tea. You definitely need some warm clothing here (see below 'Climate'). The town is popular with Indian honeymooners. The region around Munnar varies between 1500m and 2700m.

Sree Murugan Koil :
This temple is dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya, also known as Sree Muruga son of Lord Siva. The one day festival is known as ‘Thrikkarthika Utsvam'.
Sree Ayyapa Temple, Anachal, Munnar :
Sree Ayyapa Temple is situated at Anachal, 15 km from Munnar. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. The six day annual festival commences with the ceremonial hoisting of the temple flag (Kodiyettam).
Santhigiri Sree Maheswari Temple, Adimali :
This temple dedicated to Lord Siva is situated at Santhigiri at the heart of Adimali town. It celebrates a five day festival every year. The last day ‘Sivarathri' is considered most auspicious for worship.
Attukal Bhagavathy Temple:
This Temple is located at Attukal, 2 km away from the city. There are beautiful carved figures of Mahishasuramarddini, Goddess Kali, Rajarajeswari, Sree Parvathy with Lord Paramasiva and various other depictions of the Goddess in and around the temple.

At Attukal Bhagavathy Temple: Pongala Festival
This temple is considered as the Sabarimala of the Women. The Goddess is worshipped here as the Supreme Mother. The pilgrims who visit the Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple also visit Attukalamma without which their pilgrimage is not considered as complete. The Pongala festival is celebrated during the Malayalam month 'Kumbha' ( Feb-March) in the 'Makam Nakshathram'. The ten-day long celebration commences in the Malayalam month of Makaram-Kumbham (Feb - March) on the 'Karthika Nakshathram'
